The Twin Cities are beginning the week on a cold note, but a noticeable warming trend is on the way. Monday will be the chilliest day of the stretch, with temperatures ranging from 22 to 32 degrees under partly sunny skies. While cold air remains in place today, the pattern is shifting toward milder conditions as the week progresses.

After Monday’s cold start, temperatures will climb sharply on Tuesday, reaching 35 to 40 degrees across Minneapolis and St. Paul. Skies will be partly cloudy, and the warmer air will help improve road and sidewalk conditions following recent cold and snow. The warming trend continues into Wednesday, when highs are expected to range from 34 to 42 degrees, pushing close to the 40-degree mark for many neighborhoods.

Wednesday also brings the chance for light rain late in the day, especially as temperatures hover near or just above freezing. This may create damp conditions by evening, though widespread heavy precipitation is not expected at this time.

Conditions change again on Thursday, as cooler air returns. Highs are forecast to drop back to around 20 to 32 degrees, accompanied by windy conditions and the potential for a wintry mix during the morning hours. This could lead to slick spots, particularly on untreated roads and bridges during the early commute.

Overall, Monday marks the transition point between lingering cold and a brief midweek warm-up. Residents should enjoy the milder temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday while remaining alert for changing conditions later in the week. Layered clothing, cautious driving during temperature swings, and staying updated with forecasts will help Twin Cities residents navigate a week that brings both thawing temperatures and renewed winter impacts.
