Minneapolis, Minnesota – Quiet winter weather is expected across the Twin Cities and much of Minnesota this week, with only a small chance of light snow early Wednesday and a warming trend continuing into Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities office, increasing cloud cover today will be followed by a slight chance of flurries Wednesday morning, mainly across western Minnesota. Any snowfall that does occur is expected to be light, with little to no accumulation anticipated.

Roadways including Interstate 94, Interstate 35, US-12, and US-10 are expected to remain mostly dry, though brief flurries may reduce visibility for early-morning drivers in western portions of the state. The National Weather Service notes that impacts to travel are expected to be minimal.

High temperatures today range from the mid-teens to near 20 degrees, with overnight lows dropping below zero in some areas. Wednesday brings a noticeable warm-up, with highs climbing into the low to mid-20s. Morning flurries, if they occur, are expected mainly during the early commute hours before tapering off.

Thursday is forecast to be the warmest day of the week, especially in western Minnesota, where highs are expected to range from the mid-30s to mid-40s. Southern portions of the state will also see above-average temperatures for early February. Friday remains mild, with highs generally in the upper 20s to mid-30s.

Forecasters emphasize that no significant winter weather hazards are expected during this period. The primary impacts will be temperature-related, as melting may occur during the daytime hours followed by refreezing overnight in shaded or untreated areas.

This forecast may be most relevant for early commuters, freight traffic, and school transportation, particularly Wednesday morning. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates in case forecast confidence changes regarding light snow chances.
