Minneapolis, Minnesota – Drivers along I-35W and I-94 should prepare for reduced visibility through 9 a.m. Tuesday as areas of fog and light drizzle create damp pavement and patchy low clouds across the Twin Cities.
According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, early morning fog and spotty drizzle will gradually clear, leading to a dry stretch through at least early Friday. Afternoon highs will climb into the upper 40s and low 50s Tuesday, then rise into the mid-50s to near 60 degrees by Thursday across Minneapolis, St. Paul and surrounding suburbs.
The mild pattern will keep most commutes dry midweek, including along I-494, I-694 and US-169. Overnight lows will dip into the 30s, limiting concerns for icy roads after Tuesday morning.
Rain spreads into the metro by late Friday afternoon, with steadier precipitation likely by 6 p.m. along I-94 and Highway 62. Temperatures will start in the 50s Friday but fall into the 30s overnight as colder air moves in. That shift could allow a rain-snow mix to develop after midnight Friday night into early Saturday, especially north and west of the city.
While significant accumulation is not expected at this time, wet roads and reduced visibility may affect early Saturday travel. Drivers should allow extra stopping distance during rainfall and remain alert for changing conditions as temperatures drop.
Additional updates are expected as Friday’s system approaches, with timing refinements likely before the evening commute.
