Minneapolis, Minnesota – Temperatures will climb into the mid-50s along the I-94 corridor this weekend, running 20 to 30 degrees above normal for mid-February.

According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, an appreciable warming trend is underway across central and southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Aside from increased cloud cover tonight into early Thursday, conditions are expected to remain mostly dry through the weekend.

High temperatures Wednesday will range from 35 to 50 degrees, followed by 40 to 50 degrees Thursday as clouds clear later in the day. By Friday, highs are forecast between 42 and 52 degrees, with Saturday climbing to 45 to 55 degrees across much of the region.

Typical mid-February highs in the Twin Cities average in the mid-20s to near 30 degrees, making this stretch significantly warmer than seasonal norms.

Drivers along Interstate 94 from Minneapolis to St. Paul, Interstate 35W and I-35E, U.S. Highway 52 toward Rochester, and U.S. Highway 169 near Mankato can expect mainly dry pavement conditions and improving travel weather.

Overnight lows will range from the low 20s to low 30s, which may allow for minor refreezing in shaded or untreated areas early each morning.

No significant precipitation is expected through Saturday.

Commuters, students, and outdoor workers may notice more spring-like afternoon conditions compared to earlier this month.
