Minneapolis, MN – Cold temperatures will persist across central Minnesota and western Wisconsin today, with light snow expected to develop Tuesday and potentially create slick travel along I-94, I-35W, and I-35E.

The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities reports increasing cloud cover Monday ahead of a weak system set to bring light snow to the region Tuesday. High temperatures Monday will remain cold, generally in the teens and 20s, before slightly moderating Tuesday into the 30 to 40 degree range.

Light snow is expected to spread across central Minnesota and western Wisconsin Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night. While snowfall amounts are expected to remain modest — generally around 1 to 2 inches — even light accumulations could create slippery road conditions, especially during the evening commute.

Drivers traveling along I-94 between Minneapolis and Eau Claire, as well as I-35W and I-35E through the Twin Cities metro, should plan for reduced traction and occasional visibility reductions in steady snow. Untreated roads, ramps, bridges, and overpasses may become slick quickly as temperatures hover near or below freezing.

Another chance for light snow arrives Wednesday across far southern Minnesota, potentially affecting areas near Mankato and Rochester along US-169 and I-90.

While no major winter storm is expected, fluctuating temperatures and periodic light snowfall could lead to localized travel impacts through midweek. Motorists are encouraged to slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and monitor forecast updates as conditions evolve.
