Minnesota – Headlights glow through misty air across the Twin Cities this morning as rain spreads across Minneapolis and St. Paul, leaving slick pavement and gray skies over the metro. Light showers continue through the morning commute while temperatures hover in the mid-40s.

According to the National Weather Service in Chanhassen, widespread rain will continue through the day with temperatures climbing toward 53 degrees. Rain chances sit near 80 percent before colder air pushes into eastern Minnesota later tonight.

Drivers along I-94, I-35W, and Highway 62 should watch for wet roads and occasional reduced visibility through midday. Gusty southeast winds may also make conditions feel cooler than the thermometer suggests.

Conditions change quickly later tonight as temperatures drop to around 31 degrees. Rain may mix with snow and sleet across the Twin Cities before sunrise. Any accumulation should stay light, generally under a half inch, but slushy patches could briefly develop on untreated roads.

Saturday begins with a lingering chance of light snow before clouds gradually break. Temperatures hold in the mid-40s by afternoon as skies slowly brighten across Minneapolis and surrounding suburbs.

Sunshine returns in full by Sunday with highs climbing near 61 degrees, a noticeable shift toward spring across Minnesota. Early Sunday morning also marks the start of Daylight Saving Time as clocks jump ahead at 2 a.m., giving residents longer daylight in the evening hours.

Early next week looks quieter with mostly sunny skies Monday and highs in the mid-50s. A weak system could bring a few light snow showers Monday night into Tuesday, though impacts appear limited.

Meteorologists say a broader warming trend may develop across the Midwest later next week, hinting that early spring weather is beginning to take hold.
