Wisconsin – Light snow drifts across city streets this morning, softening curbs and rooftops while headlights glow through misty air. The snow looks manageable at first glance, but slick pavement and falling visibility already complicate travel. Winter is active now, and conditions will intensify as colder air pours in.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through early morning for much of southeast Wisconsin. An additional 2 to 4 inches of snow is possible, with the highest totals south of the Madison-to-Milwaukee corridor. Snow-covered roads and reduced visibility may affect the morning commute, especially along I-94 and Highway 18.
Another Arctic cold front pushes through later today, bringing bursts of heavier snow and gusty northwest winds. Blowing snow may sharply reduce visibility during the evening commute. Temperatures fall steadily tonight, setting up a prolonged stretch of dangerous cold.
An Extreme Cold Watch is posted from late Thursday night through Saturday morning. Wind chills could plunge between 30 and 40 below zero, cold enough to cause frostbite in minutes. Milwaukee highs drop near zero by Friday, with nighttime lows falling well below zero. Outdoor exposure becomes hazardous quickly, even with brief trips.
Drivers should plan extra time, slow down, and prepare for rapidly changing road conditions. Residents are urged to dress in layers, limit time outdoors, and check heating systems now. Pets should remain indoors, and neighbors who need assistance should be checked on before the cold peaks.
Looking ahead, 6–10 day outlooks keep Wisconsin locked in below-normal temperatures, while periodic snow chances linger into next week. Winter remains firmly in control.
