Wisconsin – Wind whips across Lake Michigan this morning, rattling street signs and tugging at jackets across Milwaukee. Gusts sweep down city blocks and along the lakeshore, signaling a powerful weather shift that will evolve into a messy mix of rain, sleet, and snow by Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, a High Wind Warning remains in effect until 4 p.m., with gusts reaching 55 mph across southeastern Wisconsin. Winds out of the west could make driving difficult on exposed roadways including I-94, I-43, and the Hoan Bridge. Loose objects may blow around, and isolated power outages remain possible through the afternoon.
Temperatures hover near 40 degrees early today under cloudy skies. A brief mix of rain and wet snow may pass through late morning before conditions gradually improve. By evening, skies partially clear and colder air settles in with temperatures dropping toward 28 degrees.
Saturday remains mostly cloudy with highs near 36 degrees across Milwaukee County. A few light snow showers could develop during the afternoon, but major impacts remain limited early in the day.
Attention quickly shifts to Sunday. Moisture surges northward as a new system approaches the Great Lakes. Rain develops across southeastern Wisconsin by late morning, then mixes with snow as colder air moves in.
By Sunday night, the system strengthens and colder air deepens. Rain changes to snow with blowing snow possible as north winds increase. Visibility could drop along major routes including I-94 and Highway 41.
Monday stays wintry with snow and patchy blowing snow continuing across Milwaukee. Temperatures struggle to climb above the mid-20s, and wind gusts may reach 40 mph, creating drifting snow and reduced visibility.
Drivers should plan extra time Sunday night into Monday morning. Conditions may deteriorate quickly as temperatures fall and winds strengthen.
