MILWAUKEE, WI – A sharp Arctic chill is gripping southeast Wisconsin this morning as early December weather turns wintry fast. Skies are mostly cloudy, but the air feels biting — just 21° in Milwaukee with a wind chill near 11°. The National Weather Service says a Hazardous Weather Outlook is in effect for much of eastern Wisconsin, with snow chances and dangerous wind chills expected midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, light snow could begin by late Wednesday, bringing a dusting to a half-inch across the region. Roads may become slick, especially in shaded and untreated areas, before temperatures plunge Wednesday night. By early Thursday, wind chills could dip as low as -15°, marking one of the coldest mornings so far this season.

Residents should dress in layers, limit outdoor exposure, and check on pets and neighbors. Drivers are urged to watch for icy bridges and parking lots as “flash freezing” can occur when melting snow refreezes quickly under plunging air temperatures.

Thursday and Friday bring a brief reprieve with sunshine but little warmth — highs may stay near 25°–30°. Another round of light snow is possible Friday night into Saturday, signaling the Midwest’s deepening transition into winter.

Five-Day Outlook (Milwaukee, WI)

  • Today: Mostly sunny, high 26°, low 20°.

  • Thursday: Sunny and bitter cold, high 15°, low 5°.
  • Friday: Partly sunny, high 25°, low 16°.
