Wisconsin — A gray dawn greets southeastern Wisconsin this morning, as gusts howl across rooftops and whip flags along the lakefront. Drivers on I-94 and I-43 can already feel the force of a fast-moving cold front sweeping across the state — the latest sign that winter is stepping forward.

The National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan has issued a Wind Advisory in effect until 6 p.m., with gusts reaching up to 50 mph. Loose decorations, trash bins, and light objects could be blown about, and scattered power outages are possible. High-profile vehicles may struggle along east–west routes, especially in open areas.

Rain and snow showers will mix briefly through midday, tapering by afternoon as colder air rushes in behind the front. Accumulations should stay under ½ inch, but the bigger story is the wind and sharp temperature drop that follows. Highs near 36°F this morning will fall into the 20s by evening, with a biting wind chill near the teens.

Thanksgiving Day itself turns partly sunny and breezy, with highs around 32°F — crisp but calm enough for local travel and gatherings. Roads should remain dry through Friday, though clouds rebuild later as another system approaches.

By Saturday, forecasters expect a 90% chance of snow, potentially a few inches north and west of Milwaukee. While totals remain uncertain, early signs point to slippery roads and hazardous travel conditions late Saturday into Sunday morning.

Long-range models continue to signal a major Arctic push by December 1, which could bring the coldest air of the season across the Midwest.

For now, bundle up and brace for the wind — Wisconsin’s winter tease has officially arrived.

Thursday: Partly sunny, 32°F.
