MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin – Southern Wisconsin could see its first snowfall of the season Saturday afternoon into Saturday night as colder air moves in behind a developing low-pressure system.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, confidence is growing for light snow accumulation across the region, especially on grassy and elevated surfaces. The system is expected to move in Saturday afternoon, with precipitation likely starting as rain before changing to snow from northwest to southeast during the evening.

“Southeast areas, including Milwaukee and Kenosha, may keep a rain/snow mix into the evening due to milder lake temperatures,” meteorologists said. Areas farther inland—particularly near Madison and the Wisconsin Dells—stand the best chance for light snow sticking through Saturday night. Most totals should remain under an inch, but brief slick spots are possible on bridges and overpasses.

Forecasters note some uncertainty still exists regarding the exact storm track, which could shift snowfall bands slightly north or south. Colder air will settle in overnight, with lows in the upper 20s to low 30s, marking a clear transition toward early winter conditions across southern Wisconsin.
