MILWAUKEE, Wis. – A chilly November evening will bring a wintry mix changing to all snow across southern Wisconsin as temperatures fall below freezing around sunset. Light accumulations are expected on grassy and elevated surfaces, with slick spots possible on bridges and untreated roads.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, snowfall will end from west to east between late Saturday evening and early Sunday morning, but flurries could persist along the Lake Michigan shoreline through midday Sunday. Most areas will see a dusting to around one inch of snow, with slightly higher totals possible near Port Washington and Sheboygan if brief lake-effect bands develop.

The main uncertainty lies in wind direction overnight Sunday into Monday. If north winds prevail, snow showers should remain offshore over Lake Michigan. However, if winds turn northeast, lake-effect snow could move inland toward Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha, producing brief one-inch-per-hour rates and hazardous travel for Monday’s early commute.

Drivers are urged to use caution on I-94, I-43, and other major routes as pavement temperatures fall below freezing after dark. Sidewalks and overpasses may become icy, especially during the late-night hours. Residents should allow extra travel time, dress warmly, and keep vehicle windshields clear as the first taste of winter settles in across southeastern Wisconsin.

Temperatures will remain in the lower 30s Sunday, then dip into the 20s by Monday morning, with a widespread frost possible inland. The start of the workweek looks drier but cold, setting the stage for a frosty and possibly snowy stretch into midweek.
