Milwaukee, WI – Wisconsin faces a multi-day stretch of potentially dangerous weather as slow-moving thunderstorms bring heavy rain from tonight through Monday night. The National Weather Service warns that central portions of the state, including Wisconsin Dells, Portage, and Waupun, have the highest risk of seeing excessive rainfall, especially late Saturday into Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, storms tonight will intensify in central and northern Wisconsin, producing isolated rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. By Saturday night, multiple rounds of thunderstorms could push rainfall totals over 2 inches in some areas, with flash flooding possible in low-lying and urban spots.

Travel along I-39, I-90, and Highway 151 could be impacted by water-covered roadways, and residents are urged not to drive through flooded areas. Homeowners in flood-prone zones should secure valuables from basements and monitor updated alerts.

While the greatest flooding threat sits in central Wisconsin, southern areas including Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha could still see heavy downpours depending on storm track. Forecasters note that confidence is lower in pinpointing exact timing for southern Wisconsin storms.

Warnings remain in effect through Monday night, and more advisories could be issued if rainfall rates exceed current expectations.
