Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Drivers across east-central and southeast Wisconsin are seeing impacts from a quick-moving round of snow showers continuing into the first half of the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, areas of light to moderate snow showers are moving through the region this morning. While individual snow bursts are expected to be spotty and short-lived, the strongest showers may briefly reduce visibility to below one mile and create slick spots on roadways.

Forecasters say the highest impact window runs from now through around 7 a.m., particularly during peak commute hours. Even brief snow showers can lead to rapidly changing road conditions, especially where pavement temperatures remain cold.

Communities impacted include Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, Kenosha, Madison, Watertown, and surrounding areas. Motorists traveling along Interstate 94, Interstate 90, Interstate 43, U.S. Highway 18, and U.S. Highway 41 should be prepared for sudden visibility reductions and isolated slick patches.

The National Weather Service notes that while widespread accumulation is not expected, brief bursts of snow can still create hazardous driving conditions, especially on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads. Drivers may encounter dry pavement followed quickly by snow-covered sections within short distances.

Residents are urged to slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra time for the morning commute. Sudden braking or lane changes may be dangerous if slick spots develop unexpectedly.

Temperatures remain cold enough to support snow sticking briefly on road surfaces, though improvement is expected later this morning as snow showers taper off from west to east.

Students, early-shift workers, and commuters traveling during the morning hours may feel the greatest impacts, especially in open or elevated areas.

Forecasters advise monitoring updated radar and local forecasts as snow showers gradually exit the region and road conditions improve later today.
