Milwaukee, WI – Lingering snow and strong winds are making for hazardous travel conditions across much of southern and eastern Wisconsin today, according to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until noon for southern counties and 3 p.m. for eastern areas, including Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, and Milwaukee. The last of the **snowfall—1 to 3 inches—**is tapering off this morning, but north-northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph are causing blowing and drifting snow, reducing visibility on highways such as I-94 and Highway 41.
Forecasters warn that travel will remain slick and slow through the afternoon, especially in open and rural areas. The advisory follows an earlier Winter Storm Warning that brought several inches of accumulation overnight.
Cold air behind the system will push temperatures into the teens and low 20s tonight, with wind chills dropping to between -5°F and 5°F through Tuesday morning. Residents should bundle up and use caution when traveling.
