Milwaukee, WI – The Milwaukee Police Department has released video footage of an off-duty officer-involved shooting that occurred Thursday, October 9, 2025, on the city’s northwest side. The release follows department policy requiring transparency in critical incidents.

According to police, the shooting happened around 8:25 a.m. in the 4800 block of West Mill Road after a minor vehicle accident involving an off-duty Milwaukee officer. Authorities said both drivers exited their vehicles to assess the damage when the other driver allegedly produced a firearm and struck the officer in the face.

The off-duty officer, a 40-year-old man with more than 21 years on the force, then drew his department-issued weapon. Both individuals exchanged gunfire, and the 26-year-old suspect was struck and pronounced dead at the scene. No bystanders were injured.

Police said the officer was taken to a hospital for treatment and has been placed on administrative duty in line with department policy. The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team is handling the case, with the West Allis Police Department serving as the lead agency.

In accordance with Standard Operating Procedure 575, MPD notified the deceased’s next of kin and released the footage within the required 15-day window. The video, which includes portions of the officer’s body-worn camera, is now available to the public. Viewer discretion is advised.
