Milwaukee, WI — The National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 9 a.m. CST Wednesday, warning drivers across southern Wisconsin of light snow accumulations, slick roads, and gusty northwest winds.

Snow is spreading southward early this morning and is expected to taper off from northwest to southeast by mid to late morning. Most areas will see 0.5 to 1.5 inches of snow, with localized totals up to 2 inches possible, especially near Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha due to minor lake enhancement.

Gusty winds from the north and northwest, reaching 30 to 40 mph, will create areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility, particularly along open roads and near Lake Michigan. Behind the cold front, temperatures will drop into the mid-20s, raising concerns for refreezing on wet road surfaces.

“Motorists should use extra caution this morning,” meteorologists warned. “Even light snowfall combined with strong winds and falling temperatures can quickly make untreated roads icy and slick.”

The advisory affects counties including Milwaukee, Waukesha, Jefferson, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Walworth, and Racine, with hazardous driving expected during the morning commute hours.

The snow will exit by late morning, leaving behind brisk winds and cold air. Skies will gradually clear this afternoon, but high temperatures will remain in the upper 20s to near 30°F.

Residents are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and stay updated with the latest conditions at weather.gov/mkx or on social media at @NWSMilwaukee.
