Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Storms are expected to intensify quickly by early afternoon, with a stalled front setting up a corridor for hail-producing thunderstorms and wind gusts reaching up to 50 mph.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, a broken line of storms will move through southern Wisconsin between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m., followed by a second round of redevelopment between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. This later window carries the greatest risk for isolated severe storms, especially if brief clearing allows instability to build.

Communities along and south of I-94, including Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and Janesville, face the highest potential for impacts. Hail up to 1 inch in diameter has already been identified as a concern, with damaging wind gusts becoming more likely through midday and into the afternoon.

Early morning activity has already produced gusts between 45 and 50 mph in parts of southwestern Wisconsin, and those winds are expected to spread east. Lightning and brief downpours could reduce visibility on major routes including I-43 and Highway 50.

Residents should secure loose outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel during peak storm windows, and ensure multiple ways to receive warnings. Conditions are expected to settle after 6 p.m., though isolated showers may linger into the evening.
