Milwaukee, Wis. – Thunderstorms are set to rumble across southeastern Wisconsin tonight and into Sunday, bringing heavy downpours that could slow traffic on major roadways. While forecasters say it will not be a complete washout, periods of rain and thunder are likely to continue through Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, isolated storms will move across the region overnight with temperatures staying in the lower 60s. Sunday may bring another round of heavy showers during the afternoon, especially along the I-94 corridor from Madison to Milwaukee. Rainfall rates could briefly reduce visibility and create ponding on low-lying roads.
Communities from Racine and Kenosha north through Waukesha and Fond du Lac should expect scattered thunder through Monday. The storms will remain hit-or-miss, but when they develop, downpours may lead to slick commutes and short travel delays.
Residents are advised to keep an eye on radar updates, avoid driving through standing water, and allow extra time for travel if storms pass through during peak driving hours.
Storm chances linger through Tuesday before skies clear midweek, offering a stretch of drier conditions.
