Milwaukee, WI – The National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan reports that southern Wisconsin experienced its first significant snowstorm of the season over the weekend, with widespread totals of 8 to 12 inches and localized amounts up to 14 inches.

The storm, which lasted from late Saturday through early Sunday, blanketed much of the region—particularly south of I-94 and US-18, where heavier snow bands developed. The Kettle Moraine region also saw enhanced snowfall due to terrain effects and lake moisture, with locally extreme totals near 14 inches.

Northwestern areas such as Beaver Dam, Fond du Lac, and Prairie du Chien generally picked up 6 to 8 inches, while slightly lower totals between 5 and 6 inches were observed along the immediate Lake Michigan shoreline, where warmer lake waters limited accumulation.

While plows have cleared most major routes, road crews continue addressing slick and snow-packed secondary roads. Drivers are advised to use caution, especially overnight as temperatures dip back below freezing, potentially refreezing melted snow.

This storm marked a dramatic start to the winter season for the Milwaukee and Madison areas, ushering in a colder pattern expected to persist into the first week of December.

Residents are encouraged to clear sidewalks, watch for icy spots, and stay informed through NWS Milwaukee/Sullivan for updates on future snow events.
