Milwaukee, WI – Light snow is spreading east across southern Wisconsin this evening, bringing a mix of flurries and light freezing drizzle that could create slick travel conditions, according to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan.
Snow began moving through areas west of Madison late Friday afternoon and is expected to reach the Milwaukee and Kenosha areas by around 6:30 p.m. A dusting of snow may accumulate on untreated roads, while occasional freezing drizzle could add a thin layer of ice, especially on bridges, ramps, and secondary roads.
The NWS advises drivers to slow down and use caution on the evening commute, as even a light coating of ice can cause vehicles to lose traction quickly. Temperatures are expected to remain near freezing, keeping the potential for slick roads in place into Friday night.
While no significant snow totals are expected, forecasters warn that “sneaky” winter hazards like freezing drizzle often cause more travel issues than larger storms. The weather is expected to taper off later tonight as the system exits the region.
Motorists are encouraged to check 511wi.gov for live traffic and road condition updates before traveling.
