Milwaukee, Wis. – A picture-perfect autumn weekend in southeastern Wisconsin will give way to storms by Monday, with forecasters warning of heavy rain, gusty winds, and possible thunderstorms that could slow the evening commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, Saturday will be sunny with highs in the mid-80s, followed by another warm and mostly clear day on Sunday. The weather turns unsettled Monday afternoon, when showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop after 4 p.m. A 60% chance of rain is forecast, with winds out of the southwest at 10 to 20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph.
Heavier showers and a few thunderstorms are likely Monday night, with rain chances climbing to 80%. Forecasters say some storms could produce brief downpours, potentially reducing visibility along I-94, I-43, and other key commuter routes through Milwaukee, Racine, and Waukesha counties.
Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time Monday evening and keep phones and devices charged in case of power outages. Cooler air follows the storm system, with highs dropping into the mid-60s by Tuesday.
Showers remain possible through Tuesday morning before skies clear midweek.
