Madison, WI – The National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of southern and eastern Wisconsin, in effect from 6 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday. A wintry mix of snow and freezing drizzle is expected to make roads slippery overnight and during the Wednesday morning commute.
Forecasters say 2 to 4 inches of snow are likely across Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, Columbia, Dodge, and Washington counties, with lighter totals—around 1 inch or less—further south in Rock and Jefferson counties. A light glaze of ice could form on untreated surfaces, creating hazardous travel conditions.
Winds are also expected to gust up to 40 mph, potentially reducing visibility and causing blowing snow in open areas.
The NWS advises motorists to allow extra travel time, slow down, and use caution when driving tonight and early Wednesday. Bridges, overpasses, and rural roads will be most prone to icing.
Temperatures will hover near freezing overnight before climbing into the mid-30s Wednesday, allowing gradual melting through the morning.
