Milwaukee, Wisconsin – A dangerous combination of heat and humidity will grip much of Wisconsin this afternoon, with “feels-like” temperatures climbing as high as 102° across the eastern half of the state. A Heat Advisory remains in effect from noon to 8 p.m. CDT Monday, covering cities from Madison to Milwaukee, and extending north through Fond du Lac and Sheboygan.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, the advisory spans Marquette, Dane, Jefferson, Racine, Kenosha, and over a dozen other counties. The warning cites a high risk for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those without access to air conditioning or working outdoors during peak temperatures.

Milwaukee, Waukesha, and Rock counties are among the hardest hit areas, with heat indexes likely to top 100° between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration urges outdoor workers to take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments and to watch for signs of heat stroke.

Cooling centers are open in several cities including Madison, Janesville, and Kenosha. Residents are urged to check on elderly neighbors, limit strenuous activities, and stay hydrated.

The heat wave is expected to ease slightly overnight, but more advisories could return later this week if humidity lingers.
