Milwaukee, WI – Southeastern Wisconsin is set to see its first snowflakes of the season later today, as a mix of rain and snow develops this afternoon and transitions to light snow after sunset, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Milwaukee/Sullivan.

Forecasters expect accumulations between a dusting and 1 inch, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces, as temperatures dip below freezing this evening. Roadways are expected to remain mostly wet, though slick spots could form overnight, especially on bridges and overpasses.

Snow will begin spreading from west to east through mid-afternoon, favoring areas north of a Madison-to-Milwaukee line for the steadiest snowfall. Lakeshore regions, including Racine and Kenosha, will likely remain all rain until late evening due to the moderating influence of Lake Michigan.

Snow is forecast to taper off between 10 PM and 4 AM, lingering the longest near far southeastern Wisconsin. Scattered flurries could persist into Sunday, particularly during the afternoon.

While this system will not bring significant accumulation, it marks the first measurable snow event of the 2025–26 winter season for much of southern Wisconsin.
