Milwaukee, WI – A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for portions of Wisconsin, including Marquette and Green Lake counties, through midnight Tuesday. Visibility of a quarter mile or less is expected, while freezing temperatures could lead to slick road conditions. The advisory extends to Iowa, Lafayette, and Green counties, posing risks for drivers on bridges, overpasses, and untreated surfaces.
According to the National Weather Service, the dense fog may linger into the overnight hours, impacting visibility into early Wednesday. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow for extra stopping distances, and use low-beam headlights. These precautions are vital on busy routes such as I-94 and US-41.
Looking ahead, Milwaukee will see gradually clearing skies on New Year’s Day, with a high near 29°F and winds up to 15 mph. Wednesday night temperatures will dip to 18°F, bringing clear but chilly conditions. Thursday’s forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 26°F, but by the weekend, snow chances return, particularly on Sunday with a 40% chance of accumulation.
Residents should prepare for fluctuating conditions throughout the week. Keep an eye on bridges and rural roadways for lingering ice, and plan for potential disruptions during travel.
