St. Louis, MO – A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of Missouri and Illinois, with snow and ice expected to impact travel through Wednesday night.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory covers central and eastern Missouri, including St. Louis, and parts of Illinois, such as Springfield, Champaign, and Decatur. The storm is expected to bring up to 4 inches of snow, sleet, and ice accumulations of up to two-tenths of an inch. Hazardous conditions will make roads slick and could impact both the morning and evening commutes.
The advisory is in place for different time frames depending on location. In Missouri and southwestern Illinois, it will be active from 3 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. In east-central Illinois, including Champaign and Springfield, the advisory lasts from 6 a.m. Wednesday to 3 a.m. Thursday.
