St. Louis, Mo. – Missourians will get a taste of fall next week as a major cool-down sweeps across the state, dropping morning lows into the 50s and keeping daytime highs in the low to mid-70s. The shift will bring a break from summer’s heat, with drier air making conditions feel refreshing and more comfortable.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, there is an 80 to 90 percent chance that below-normal temperatures will persist through at least August 29. Meteorologists say this strong push of Canadian air will bring much lower dew points, adding to the crisp, fall-like feel across the region.

The coolest conditions are expected in central and eastern Missouri, including Columbia, Jefferson City, and St. Louis, where residents may wake up to brisk mornings more typical of late September. The Ozarks will also see below-normal temperatures, making for favorable hiking and outdoor conditions.

Travel and infrastructure impacts are minimal, but drivers should remain alert to fog potential during early morning commutes as the cooler air settles overnight.

This stretch of cooler weather is expected to last through the end of next week, with forecasters watching for a gradual warm-up heading into early September.
