La Crosse, Wisconsin – Residents across Wisconsin can expect a tranquil, cooler start to the weekend before an unsettled weather pattern returns by the middle of next week. Patchy fog is developing across the region and will remain a concern through Sunday morning, limiting visibility for early morning drivers.

According to the National Weather Service, a high-pressure system is bringing clear, calm conditions and lower temperatures to the area for the first half of the weekend. Daytime highs will remain in the low 60s Saturday and Sunday, with overnight lows dipping into the low to mid-50s. The dense fog may affect travel on major arteries like I-90 and Highway 61 in the early morning hours. Conditions will improve by late morning each day, with the sun breaking through to provide pleasant afternoons.

A significant shift is expected by Tuesday as an approaching system brings a chance for widespread showers and thunderstorms. These storms are predicted to continue into Wednesday, with a 50 percent chance of rain and thunder on both days. The storms may impact the evening commute Tuesday and again during the late afternoon Wednesday. While the storms are not expected to be severe, they will mark a return to more humid and unstable conditions.

Residents should prepare for the possibility of reduced visibility on the roads in the morning and have rain gear ready for Tuesday and Wednesday. The overall pattern suggests a cooler than average period for the upper Midwest over the next 6 to 10 days, with temperatures dipping below normal across the region.
