Fort Wayne, IN – A stretch of mild, breezy weather will give way to the first hints of winter this weekend as a strong cold front brings rain and possible snow to parts of northern Indiana, southern Michigan, and northwest Ohio, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Northern Indiana.

Highs through midweek will stay in the upper 50s to upper 60s under partly cloudy skies. Thursday will be dry and seasonable before rain spreads across the region Friday, with a few thunderstorms possible. The front will move through Friday night, ushering in much colder air.

By Sunday, highs will only reach the low-to-mid 40s, with overnight lows dipping to near freezing. The NWS says lingering moisture and cold air could mix to produce the first light rain and snow showers of the season, especially across northern Indiana and southern Michigan.

While no significant accumulation is expected, the return of winter-like conditions will mark a sharp change from this week’s mild pattern. Drivers should prepare for brisk winds and cooler, damp roads by the end of the weekend.
