Chicago, IL – A devastating storm system swept through the central U.S. overnight, generating over 225 tornado warnings and leaving a trail of destruction. The storm produced powerful tornadoes, damaging winds, large hail, and flash flooding, affecting millions across several states, including Indiana, Arkansas, and Missouri.
Reports indicate widespread impacts, with Indiana experiencing extensive storm warnings and significant damage. In some areas, including Indianapolis, flooding submerged vehicles, while a tornado caused structural damage in Carmel, Indiana, where a radio tower was toppled. No fatalities have been reported, though emergency responders are actively assessing the situation.
In Craighead County, Arkansas, the storm system unleashed a violent tornado, damaging homes in cities like Monette, Lake City, and Bono. Emergency teams rescued people trapped in homes, with some injuries reported, though no deaths have been confirmed. A tornado also tore through Brownsburg, Indiana, where a warehouse partially collapsed, trapping workers. Thankfully, all trapped individuals were rescued, though the storm left significant damage behind.
More than 200,000 people are without power across the affected states, with Indiana bearing the brunt of outages. PowerOutage.us reported over 146,000 customers without power in the state. Authorities urge residents to stay alert and avoid flooded areas while teams continue recovery efforts across the storm-stricken regions.
