Peoria, IL – Families of children receiving care at OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois will soon have one less worry thanks to a new partnership with Midwest Food Bank. The two organizations have teamed up to distribute family food kits designed to ease financial and emotional burdens during medical treatment.

According to OSF HealthCare, the initiative began this month with the delivery of 80 food kits from Midwest Food Bank’s Morton facility. Each package, valued at about $10, includes essential groceries funded by donations to the OSF HealthCare Foundation.

Midwest Food Bank and OSF plan to expand the effort by creating an on-site food pantry at the hospital to serve families year-round. The project aligns with both organizations’ missions to provide compassionate, community-based support for those in need.

Founded in 2003 on a McLean County farm, Midwest Food Bank has grown into the nation’s largest food bank, operating 10 U.S. locations and two international branches in East Africa and Haiti. The organization partners with nonprofits across 25 states to supply free, nutritious food to families facing hardship.

Officials from both groups said the Peoria partnership highlights a shared commitment to fighting hunger while supporting families through challenging times.
