Omaha, NE – Recent heavy rainfall has led to secondary peaks in the Missouri River downstream of the Platte River, particularly affecting areas from Omaha southwards. The river gauges in these regions have responded to the significant rain that fell across east-central Nebraska on Monday night.

According to the National Weather Service Omaha, this additional water flow will not impact the overall flooding stage expected along the Missouri River this week. Notably, the only site yet to crest is Rulo, Nebraska. In contrast, other sites along the Missouri are experiencing stable or decreasing water levels. The latest forecast suggests that major locations such as Decatur, Blair, and Brownville have already crested.

For residents monitoring the weather closely, Omaha’s forecast predicts cloudy conditions from 8 AM to 6 PM today, with temperatures peaking at 85°F. Thursday is expected to bring rain, with a 65% chance of precipitation and a high of 79°F. Friday will be sunnier with temperatures around 80°F. The weekend forecast includes a mix of clouds and rain, with Saturday showing a 35% chance of rain and Sunday a 45% chance. Temperatures will remain in the low 80s.
