Chicago, IL – A major system moving into the Midwest is poised to bring significant rainfall, raising the risk of flooding across multiple states. The National Weather Service has issued Flood Watches from Wednesday evening through Sunday morning for several areas, with rainfall potentially exceeding a foot in some locations.

The states affected include parts of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Missouri, with the heaviest rainfall expected from Wednesday night through Saturday. Areas already saturated from prior rains will face increased flooding risks, particularly along rivers, creeks, and low-lying regions.

According to the National Weather Service, up to 12 inches of rain could accumulate in some areas, with flash flooding likely in urban and flood-prone zones. The rainfall will likely lead to rapid rises in rivers, including the Ohio, Mississippi, and Missouri rivers, with river flooding possibly intensifying as the storm progresses.

Residents in flood-prone areas are advised to monitor weather updates and prepare for potential evacuations or other safety measures. This storm marks a significant event for the region, with impacts expected to last into the weekend.
