Midlothian, IL — Two suspects were arrested after an early-morning burglary at a Midlothian café triggered a police chase and multi-agency search Wednesday.

According to the Midlothian Police Department, officers were dispatched around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, to Anna’s Café, 4459 W. 147th St., for a reported burglary in progress.

Police said several masked offenders allegedly exited the business and fled in two vehicles, both later determined to be stolen. A third vehicle was waiting nearby as part of the escape.

Officers pursued the vehicles as they left the area. During the pursuit, one suspect vehicle crashed into a parked car near 150th Street and Kilbourn Avenue, police said. The suspects then fled on foot, prompting officers to establish a perimeter.

Two other vehicles involved in the burglary continued fleeing the area, and assisting officers from outside jurisdictions attempted to pursue them. Police said those pursuits were eventually discontinued because of the erratic and reckless driving of the suspects.

Officers from the Burglary Task Force detail, along with multiple regional agencies, responded to assist in the search. Authorities deployed drones and K-9 units, ultimately locating and taking two suspects into custody.

Police identified the suspects as Christian Streeter, 19, of Lynwood, Illinois, and Amarion Mayo, 20, of Hammond, Indiana.

Investigators said officers recovered sledgehammers and two loaded handguns with extended magazines inside a stolen vehicle linked to the burglary.

Mayo was charged with burglary, criminal damage to property ($10,000–$100,000), unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle, aggravated fleeing to elude, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and resisting a peace officer, police said.

Streeter faces charges including burglary, criminal damage to property, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, criminal trespass to a motor vehicle, and resisting a peace officer, according to police.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to identify additional suspects.

Police noted that similar burglaries targeting gaming facilities across the Chicagoland area have caused millions in losses over the past year.

For many early-morning workers and commuters, incidents like this can disrupt travel and raise safety concerns in normally quiet overnight hours.
