COLUMBIA, S.C. – A stretch of classic early October warmth will brighten much of South Carolina through Tuesday, giving residents a perfect window for pumpkin patch visits, early Halloween decorating, and fall festivals. Highs will climb into the mid-80s under mostly sunny skies, with light winds and low rain chances.

According to the National Weather Service in Columbia, Monday and Tuesday will stay dry across the Midlands, with afternoon highs around 85–86°F and comfortable lows in the mid-60s. Light east winds may reach 8 mph but should ease by midweek. Motorists traveling along I-26 and I-77 can expect good driving conditions, though some patchy morning fog may reduce visibility early Monday and Tuesday.

By Wednesday evening, moisture from the Atlantic could bring a few isolated showers, mainly west of Columbia and toward Lexington County. The NWS says rain chances remain around 30%, with most activity tapering off by late Wednesday night. Outdoor events and sports practices should proceed safely, but residents are urged to keep umbrellas handy just in case.

Late-week temperatures will trend cooler, with highs falling back into the low 70s by Thursday and Friday. It’s a good time to prepare gardens and sensitive plants for cooler mornings and to enjoy crisp fall evenings across the region’s parks and trails.
