Columbia, SC – Cooler, sunny weather will settle across central South Carolina Friday as high pressure builds in, bringing dry air and comfortable temperatures, according to the US National Weather Service Columbia, South Carolina.

Afternoon highs will reach the low to mid-70s, while humidity levels fall sharply, creating very dry conditions across the region. Fortunately, winds are expected to remain light, limiting widespread fire danger.

Forecasters caution that any outdoor burning should still be done carefully, as low relative humidity can allow fires to spread quickly in dry brush and grassy areas. The dry pattern will continue into the weekend, with mild afternoons and cool nights expected.

Residents can look forward to a pleasant fall day, but should stay alert to local burn restrictions and use extra caution when handling open flames or outdoor equipment.
