Wilmington, IL – A second bridge on the Henslow Trail in Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie has been closed for repairs, resulting in reroutes for trail users. The U.S. Forest Service announced the closure and reroute via a social media update.
According to the U.S. Forest Service, Henslow Trail users will need to follow the new route onto Baseline Road, Schoolhouse Road, and South Patrol Road. The reroutes are clearly marked with signage, and visitors are urged to stay away from the closed bridges for their safety.
Currently, there is no estimated timetable for the completion of the bridge repairs. The U.S. Forest Service has advised visitors to stay informed about trail conditions and to plan their visits accordingly.
