Corpus Christi, TX – The U.S. National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for portions of the Middle Texas Coast, warning of high tides, beach flooding, and a moderate risk of rip currents through the weekend.
According to forecasters, the advisory covers bays and Gulf-facing beaches across Aransas, Kleberg, Nueces, San Patricio, Refugio, and Calhoun counties. Inundation of up to 1.5 feet is possible during high tide, which could flood beach roads and low-lying coastal areas. Additional advisories are expected later this evening and may extend through Sunday.
The weather service notes that hazardous surf and a moderate rip current risk will continue, particularly near piers and jetties. Beach erosion and occasional wave overwash are also possible during peak tides.
Officials urge beachgoers to exercise caution, avoid driving on flooded roads, and remain alert to updated advisories throughout the weekend. Swimmers are advised to stay near lifeguard-protected beaches and be aware of strong surf conditions.
