Nashville, TN – After a stretch of dry and seasonable weather, rain returns to Middle Tennessee beginning Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Nashville. Forecasters say widespread rainfall will persist through much of the week, helping to reduce ongoing drought conditions across the region.

Rain chances increase to 80–90% Sunday, with wet conditions continuing into Monday and Tuesday. By Thursday, most areas across Middle Tennessee — including Nashville, Murfreesboro, Columbia, and Cookeville — are expected to pick up 1 to 2 inches of total rainfall, with localized totals possibly higher.

The flooding risk remains low, as the ground remains dry from recent weeks. No severe weather is expected, but residents should anticipate cool, cloudy, and damp conditions through midweek.

High temperatures will gradually cool from the 60s and low 70s this weekend to the low 50s by midweek, running 5–10 degrees below average for late October.

The NWS encourages residents to monitor daily updates at weather.gov/nashville as rainfall continues through Thursday.
