Nashville, Tenn. – After a sunny and dry Sunday, Middle Tennessee will see a shift toward unsettled weather starting Monday, with showers expected to linger through Thursday. The good news: no severe weather is in the outlook.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, light rain will begin developing Monday afternoon with a 20 to 40 percent chance across the region. Rain chances rise to 40 to 60 percent Tuesday and Wednesday, with the highest coverage in the afternoon and evening hours. By Thursday, showers taper to about 20 percent before drier air settles in.

Daytime highs will stay seasonable, ranging from the lower 70s in Cookeville to the mid-80s near Columbia and Franklin. Overnight lows will hover in the upper 50s to lower 60s, keeping mornings cooler. The rain may help ease late-summer dryness, but drivers should expect slick roads during commutes, especially midweek when rain chances peak.

By Friday and Saturday, sunshine returns with highs near 80 degrees and overnight lows dropping into the 40s and 50s — a noticeable early fall feel.

More updates from the National Weather Service are expected as rain chances shift through midweek.
