Nashville, TN – Strong spring storms continue to sweep through Middle Tennessee, bringing powerful wind gusts and a rising risk of flash flooding to the Nashville area through Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 a.m. Thursday, with gusts up to 40 mph expected. A Flood Watch is also active through Sunday morning, raising concerns for excessive rainfall, especially in flood-prone areas like Davidson, Williamson, and Cheatham counties.

Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor objects and avoid low-lying roads, especially during heavy rain periods. Travel along I-24 and other major routes may be hazardous, particularly near creeks and streams likely to overflow.

Thunderstorms are expected to peak late Wednesday night into early Thursday. Some storms may turn severe with damaging wind and torrential rain. Saturated ground conditions increase the potential for flash flooding through the weekend.

Safety Tips:

  • Avoid driving through flooded roads.
  • Charge devices in case of power outages.
  • Stay updated with local alerts via NOAA weather radio or trusted news sources.
