Nashville, TN – After a brief cool-down Sunday, warmer-than-normal weather is set to return to Middle Tennessee just in time for Christmas, bringing springlike temperatures and a low chance of rain during the holiday week.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, temperatures will begin climbing again starting Monday, with highs reaching the mid-50s to near 60 degrees. By Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Thursday, many areas across Middle Tennessee are expected to see highs in the mid-60s to low 70s, which is well above normal for late December and near record levels in some locations.
Forecasters say there is a low to medium chance for light showers beginning Monday night and continuing through Tuesday night, but no hazardous weather is expected at this time. Rainfall amounts are expected to remain light, limiting travel impacts.
Sunday will be the coolest day in the short-term forecast, with highs generally ranging from the upper 40s to mid-50s, before the warming trend takes hold. Overnight lows early in the week will also remain mild, mostly staying above freezing.
The extended outlook suggests that above-normal temperatures may persist through New Year’s, continuing a pattern of mild winter weather across the region.
Residents in Davidson County, Williamson County, Rutherford County, Wilson County, and surrounding Middle Tennessee communities may want to plan outdoor holiday activities accordingly, while also staying weather-aware for forecast updates as Christmas approaches.
