Nashville, Tenn. – A sweltering Sunday lies ahead for Middle Tennessee, with heat index values expected to climb as high as 105 degrees between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, a Heat Advisory is now in effect for dozens of counties, including Davidson, Montgomery, Rutherford, and Williamson. The combination of high humidity and soaring temperatures could lead to heat-related illnesses, especially for those without access to air conditioning.

Cities from Clarksville to Columbia—including Murfreesboro, Franklin, and Lebanon—should prepare for oppressive afternoon heat. Outdoor workers, athletes, and those without shelter are especially vulnerable during peak hours. Residents are urged to drink water frequently, avoid strenuous activity, and check on elderly neighbors.

This is the third such advisory issued this summer, underscoring a pattern of intensifying heat across the region. Metro Nashville may open cooling centers if temperatures remain dangerously high.

The advisory is set to expire at 8 p.m. Sunday, but additional alerts could be issued if the heat persists into Monday.
