Cincinnati, Ohio – Rain sweeping across the southern Ohio Valley this weekend may trigger minor river flooding and travel slowdowns by Monday, particularly in parts of southern Ohio, Kentucky, and Middle Tennessee.
According to the National Weather Service Ohio River Forecast Center, the heaviest rainfall will fall across Middle Tennessee, with 1 to 2 inches expected through 8 a.m. Monday. Light to moderate rainfall is forecast across the southern portions of Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia. Some western river locations remain near action stage following previous storms, and additional rain could push levels higher early next week.
The Ohio River basin’s southern tier, including cities like Portsmouth, Huntington, and Louisville, may see rising water levels that could affect low-lying roads and agricultural land. Action stage conditions remain along parts of the Green and Licking Rivers, where even modest rainfall could cause quick runoff.
Residents are urged to monitor local alerts, avoid driving through flooded roadways, and secure outdoor equipment near waterways. While no major flooding is forecast at this time, minor rises could impact recreational and rural access points.
Rain will continue through Sunday, with river updates expected from the OHRFC by Monday morning.
