Nashville, TN – A low risk of severe storms will impact areas south of I-40 and west of I-24 tonight. Damaging straight-line winds are the primary concern, although an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Residents are urged to remain alert from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. and to charge their phones and keep weather radios on standby.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms will persist into Sunday morning, with up to one inch of rain expected. Wind gusts may reach 25 mph tonight, making travel potentially hazardous, particularly along major routes such as I-24 and I-40.

Sunday offers a 50% chance of rain early, but conditions will clear by the afternoon. Highs will reach 63°F under partly cloudy skies, with lighter winds expected. Sunday night may bring brief showers, but these will taper off by Monday morning.

Looking ahead, Monday will be mostly sunny with a high of 61°F, providing a mild start to the week. New Year’s Eve and Day promise dry conditions, with partly sunny skies and highs near 45°F.

Residents should plan for changing weather conditions this evening and exercise caution if traveling overnight. Stay updated through NOAA weather alerts and local media for any further storm developments.
