Nashville, Tenn. – Drivers across parts of Middle Tennessee faced dense fog Thursday morning, with the thickest patches reported from Clarksville to Waverly, Columbia to Lawrenceburg, and east toward McMinnville. In Metro Nashville, visibility remained better, but commuters were urged to use caution on rural highways.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop through Thursday afternoon, with localized heavy downpours possible. Storm coverage is expected in 30 to 50 percent of the region, meaning not all areas will see rain.

Heat will take over by Friday, with temperatures soaring into the upper 80s and 90s and heat index readings topping 100 degrees for most locations through the weekend. Rain chances drop to near 10 percent, leaving little relief for outdoor events such as the Tennessee State Fair. Residents on the Cumberland Plateau can expect slightly cooler highs in the 90s.

Officials advise limiting strenuous outdoor activities, staying hydrated, and checking on vulnerable neighbors during peak afternoon heat. Warnings for heat and humidity remain in effect through Sunday, and more advisories may be issued if conditions intensify.
