Nashville, TN – A sharp drop in temperatures is set to grip Middle Tennessee as a cold front moves through late tonight. Residents should prepare for freezing conditions Thursday night, with widespread lows in the teens – the coldest readings of the season so far.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Nashville, today’s high temperatures will reach the mid-50s before sharply falling overnight to between 22 and 30 degrees. Thursday will stay sunny but cold, with daytime highs struggling to climb above 40. Overnight temperatures Thursday are forecast to dip as low as 10 degrees in some areas.

Drivers should expect minimal disruptions today and Thursday, as roads are likely to remain dry despite the temperature drop. However, rain chances increase Sunday afternoon into Monday, with up to 90% likelihood of showers expected at the start of next week. Localized flooding could develop, particularly in areas prone to standing water along I-24 and I-65.

The weekend promises a brief warming trend, with Saturday’s highs climbing into the upper 40s before rain moves in. NWS recommends that residents check forecasts frequently as next week’s system could bring heavier precipitation.

For now, bundle up and take extra precautions for pets and outdoor plants as temperatures plummet. Avoid prolonged exposure outside Thursday night, and prepare for a wet start to the workweek.
