Nashville, TN – A powerful cold front is sweeping through Middle Tennessee, bringing freezing temperatures, strong winds, and the season’s first snow chances. Temperatures will plunge into the 20s Thursday night, with gusts up to 35 mph, creating dangerous wind chills.

According to the National Weather Service, highs today will barely reach 50°F, with temperatures dropping into the 30s overnight. Areas along the Cumberland Plateau could see a light dusting of snow Thursday night into early Friday. Although snowfall totals are expected to remain minimal, slick roadways may develop, especially along elevated routes like I-40.

The coldest weather arrives by Friday morning, with lows dipping into the teens in some areas of the plateau and the low 20s in Nashville. Wind chills will make it feel even colder, potentially falling into the single digits. Residents are urged to secure outdoor plants and bring pets indoors.

Looking ahead, the freeze will persist through Saturday before a gradual warming trend begins Sunday. Daytime highs will reach 56°F by Saturday and climb into the low 60s early next week. For those planning Thanksgiving travel, conditions are expected to improve with dry weather forecasted through Monday.

Drivers should exercise caution on frosty roadways Thursday night and into Friday morning, especially in higher elevations. Stay updated with local forecasts and consider delaying unnecessary travel during peak freezing hours.
