Nashville, Tenn. – Cooler-than-usual temperatures will linger across Middle Tennessee into early next week, accompanied by multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms. Highs will hover in the 60s and low 70s through Tuesday—well below typical late-May levels—while rain chances increase significantly starting Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, scattered storms will begin late Friday night with rain chances ramping up to 60% Saturday and 80% by Monday. Some storms may bring brief downpours and gusty winds, particularly Sunday and Monday. Daytime highs will range from 67°F to 77°F, with overnight lows dipping into the 40s and 50s through the weekend.
Cities like Murfreesboro, Clarksville, and Columbia should prepare for rain-soaked commutes early next week. Wet road conditions may slow traffic during peak hours on I-24 and I-65, especially Monday morning. While widespread severe weather isn’t expected, isolated flooding in low-lying areas can’t be ruled out.
Residents are encouraged to keep umbrellas and light jackets handy, monitor local weather alerts, and avoid outdoor plans during peak storm hours. This extended cool pattern follows a stretch of unseasonably warm and stormy weather earlier in May.
Showers taper by Wednesday, but more unsettled weather could follow as summer approaches.
